A WOMAN'S RETORT.
SCHNEIDER CUP ENTRY. LADY HOUSTON'S GIBE. LONDON'. Feb. 5. Lady Houston has sent a letter to' Mr. F. Montague, Under-Secretary for Air, following his reply to Lady Houston's attack on tho Labour Government for its refusal to finance the Schneider Cup race. Tho letter says: " Poor Mr. Montague, it must l>e a bitter pill for you to swallow after doing everything to dish our airmen and prevent them from taking part in the Schneider Cup race, to find you aro now dished yourself by a woman's patriotism. Not understanding tho psychology of a Socialist Minister, I imagined I might have received your congratulations. At ltast I thought you would attempt to behave as a gentleman." Sir Phillip Sassoon, former UnderSecretary for Air, in a speech at Folkestone, said: " I did not think that even Mr. Montague would have met Lady Houston's generous offer of £IOO,OOO with such a contemptible display of prejudice and bad temper."
