IMPROVEMENTS TO HIGHWAY. FIRE BRIGADE PROPOSAL. At a meeting of the Howick Town Board on Thursday evening it was decided to instruct the engineer to arrange a programme .of local improvements that could be carried out as unemployment relief during' the winter. Owing to the heavy traffic on No.. 2 highway during the holiday season it was decided to give early attention to the grading and resurfacing of this highway. With a view to forming a fire brigade it was arranged to hold, » public meeting at an early date, and to invite competent speakers on the subject to address the meeting.
