The advantage of hospital treatment in cases of scarlet fever lies .mainly in good nursing, but this can be carried out by any intelligent mother at home, provided she has the accommodation.
Choose the largest room in the house and remove all unnecessary furnishings It should be cool
Put thy patient on a light diet, consisting of milk, fruit juices and plenty of water until the temperature comes down to normal/ Ke<>p the nose and throat clean by using cotton-wool swabs soaked in boracic lotion. If the child can gargle, 60 much the better.
Hot .fomentations should he applied to the neck, and, if the temperature is very high, warm sponging at intervals of four hours gives great relief. When peeling begins keep the skin moist with vaseline. Do not let the patient get out of bed for three weeks at least.
