The second Timaru wool sale of the season was held this. evening;when the total catalogue of 14,536 bales was submitted. There was a fair and representative N bench of buyers, who competed \ very keenly for various lots. From the outset the bidding was most animated, both Bradford and Continental buyers being in the market, each securing a fair proportion of.the offering. The wool was not quite up to the usual standard offered at the second sale here, many lots being very heavy in condition and of "doubtful yield, the bulk of hoggetbeing tender. ' Comparing the prices with those at the December sale, these can be quoted hcirdly at par; Evidently farmers made up their minds to meet the market, as passings were comparatively snjall. The official range of prices is as fol-
lows: — ■ Merino.—Super, to B£d; ave/a'ge, 6£d to 7|d; inferior, sj(d to 6jd.
Fine Halfbred.—Extra super, none on offer; super, 7d to 7fd ; average, 6d to 7d; inferior, 4£d to 6d. Medium Halfbred.—Super, 7d to 7£d; average, s£d to 6§d; inferior, 4£d to 53d. Threequarter-bred.—Fine, sgd to tijd; average, 55d to s|d; inferior, 4|d to sjd. Crossbred.—Average, to s£d; inferior, 3|d ±0 4|d. Merino Pieces. —Good to super, to 7d; low to medium, 4d .to s|d. Halfbred Pieces.—Good to super, 5 2 d to 6^d; low to mediumV3£d to 4£d. Threequarter-bred Pieces. —Good to super, to 4£d; low to medium, 3d to 4d. Bellies. —3d to 4^d.
