MONOPOLY OF TRANSPORT.
PROPOSALS OF. MR. LANG.
CO-ORDINATION OF SERVICES.
CUTTING UP LARGE ESTATES. By Tolegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received January 9, 12.35 a.m.) SYDNEY. Jan. 8. The New South Wales Government is preparing legislation for the creation of a transport monopoly under one commissioner. This will involve the abolition of the present Railway Commission and the re-cently-formed Transport Trust, which controls the trams and omnibuses. It is also likely that the Main Roads Board will be done away with. The whole of these services will then be co-ordinated and administered by ono commissioner, with subordinate heads.
The Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, thinks the solution of the railway difficulties is alro dependent upon cutting up the largo estates contiguous to the railways. The Government, ho states, has such a mandate and will attack this problem without delay.
