MEDICAL APPOINTMENT
POST FOR DR. C. ROSS
RECENT CASE RECALLED. SYDNEY. Jan. 8. Dr. Chisholm Ross, an alienist, has been appointed consulting psychiatrist at the reception house. Mr. Justice Davidson scathingly criticised the evidence given by Dr. Ross in a case concerning a will, and the doctor, who was then chief medical officer at the reception house, asked to bo relieved of his duties.
Subsequently the Medical Board held an inquiry into the conduct of Dr. Ross, and the charge of unprofessional conduct against him was dismissed.
The Medical Board of New South Wales on November 19 exonerated Dr. Chisholm Ross, a leading Sydney alienist, in connection with tho Massy will case. Dr. Ross was charged with being guilty of infamous conduct in a professional respect in that ho made a grossly unreliable report on tho mental condition of the late Mr. Gerald Massy. In the course of his judgment in tho case Mr. Justice Davidson commented strongly on tlm evidence given by Dr. Ross, and a few days after judgment had been delivered Dr. Ross asked to be relieved of all his official duties in the meantime. On October 17 the New South Wales At-torney-General then in office.Mr. I'. fe. Boyce. decided to refer the whole matter to the Medical Board for inquiry. The hoard found that the charge had not been proved to its satisfaction and therefore that there was no ground for the removal of Dr. Ross' name from the register.
