A message from the Chief-of-Staff at llif fourth Chinese nav.'il headquarters tent, fi.urn Hoihow, ori Hainan Island, in the Gulf of Tonking, Mates that a large humber r>f bandits were killed and others captured and that Iho locality is now completely cleared and peace restored. This message follows tho urgent despatch of British and American warships 6oirio weeks ago, in response to an appeal to protect British and/American missiontries.
