THE CUP CONTEST.,

NIGHTMARCH ALLOTTED 9212. TELEGRAPH HANDICAP FIELD. [by telegraph.— press association.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Following are the weights for the' Wellington Sunimer Meeting:— TRENTHAM HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP, Of £2OO. 1 mile.

C. G. LEE REDUCES TEAM

CHANGES IN EPSOM STABLE

C. G. Lee, who for many seasons hafi controlled one of the largest teams at' Epsom, where he has met with a good measure of success, is making liig reductions in his sfable, and at present is confining his .attention to Guy McElwyn ond Al, John. Lee, who combines the-business" of shoeing with that of training, intends in -future to devote more: time in . the. former, direction, hence the clearance made in his stable. Parrish Belle and Wrigley have been taken over by, their owner, A. G. Pilliriger,, who Will personally supervise their' training, while Tiger Salve has been returned to his owner, H. Lupton, ; who has also leased the maiden trotter .Winn Huon. The latter, an Australian-bred trotter, has been showing splendid promise of late in his training, and is in great order for Lupton to put the finishing touches on,' Several young trotters and pacers, who have been broken in and gaited by the Epsom trainer have been returned to their respective owners.

The two horses retained by Lee will keep him bttsy. Al John requires a lot of attention, as lio shows n tendency to become eore when the tracks nro hard, while Guy McElwyu, the young trotter, has his trainer puzzled. When trotting he displays ispeed, but breaks over- to a pace without any reason, and this habit not only is costly in his races but also at Carterton caused the connections of the youngster (o be subjected to a lengthy inquiry over the trotter's display.
