ST. STEPHEN'S COLLEGE.
NEW HOME AT BOMBAY. ERECTION OF THE BUILDINGS. [by tei.kgraph.—own correspondent.] I'UKEKOHE, Thursday. The erection of tho new St. Stephen's College buildings on the property nt Bombay is now well forward. The exterior work is practically completed and tho interior work is proceeding apace, preparatory to tho furnishing of the buildings for the mw school year. Of dignified architecture and spacious proportions, and constructed in brick and concrete, with a tiled roof throughout, the new college presents a handsome appearance. Set in a picturesque countryside it has a tone of harmony with its surroundings. It is in full view of tho Great-South Koad, from which a sylvan drive through the grounds leads up to the buildings, all of which, except' the chapel, are of two sloiovs.
Tho central building comprises tho assembly hall and chissrooms* and above the entrance rises the belfry. Separate buildings on either side comprise the dormitories. The chapel, tlio headmaster's residence, and staff quarters and laundry block comprise three other buildings, set at varying distances from tho central building and the dormitories. The ground around tho buildings is being levelloo, and large playing areas will bo provided. A large concrete water cistern ou a small hill behind tho college will be used as a water-supply reservoir _ All modern conveniences are being provided throughout the buildings.
