YESTERDAY'S WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH.
Auckland.—The weather was fine yesterday, but the sky was dull and cloudy and the conditions were sultry. The barometer was falling slowly until last evening, when it remained steady ">t 29.80 in. Wellington.—After heavy early morning rain the weather was fine in Wellington yesterday. The morning was dull but the sun came out in the afternoon. Thu remainder of the day was beautifully fine. The wind was from the north. Christchurch.—Pleasant, weather prevailed at Christchurch until Into in the afternoon yesterday, when a north-west wind developed into a gale and raised clouds of dust. Tho temperature was 75 degrees. Tho barometer was steady at 29.38 in. Dunedin.—The weather was warm and pleasatit in Dunedin yesterday morning* but there was a sudden change after midday, when heavy tropical rain fell f» r about an hour. The sky cleared to soma extent later, but conditions were unsettled. The wind was light from the south-east. The maximum temperature was 78 degrees. The barometer was still low and showed little movement, the reading last evening being 29.25 in.
