LOWEST RAINFALL SINCE 1912. AN ABNORMAL DECEMBER. [3Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANG Alt EI, Friday. The year just closed was the driest in Whangarei since 1912. Tho rainfall for that year was 32.84 in. and last year it was 47.42 in. The average for tho past 10 years is 62.30 in. The wettest year since records have been taken was 1917, when 80.76 in. of rain fell. In (he past three months only 3.69 in. have been recorded. The dry period reached its peak in December, when the total rainfall was ,29in., which is easily the lowest for tho month of December, the avorago for which is 3.63 in. Tho driest Decernbor hitherto was in 1911., when the fall was 1.34 in.
