AVIATION IN WAIKATO.
TWO AEROPLANES IN USE. MACHINE WITH A HISTORY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN* CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Thursday. Except for private enterprise there has been little activity in aviation in the Waikalo in recent months. Hamilton possesses two fine aerodromes, both controlled by private people. Since the visit of four machines from the Auckland Aero Club two months ago, there has been no flying at Mr. D. V. Bryant's ground. At Mr. J. Steele's aerodrome at Rukuhia, two machines aro stationed. Both are owned by tho Waikato Aviation Company. One is a Blackburn-Bluebird, which will be used as a school machine. Tho second is a Desoutter to which special interest is attached, ,'lllis machine was built in England in January, 1930, and was flown from England to Australia by Messrs. J?iper and Kay, tho first New Zoalanders to fly between the two countries named. Tho machine was bought by the Waikalo Aviation Company in Auckland from Mr. 11. L. Piper. It has been reconditioned and has been flown almost daily during the last few weeks V/ Mr. S. J. Blackmore, a Hamilton-trained aviator, who has done 140 hours' flying and has seeurod both his "A" and "B" certificates. The Hamilton Aero Club is doing what it can within its limited scope to encourage aviation. ' It is at present taking steps to arrange an aerial pageant to iio held in the near future. Hamilton Airways. Limited, owns no machines at present, having disposed of tho three Gipsy Moths it controlled.
