Dec. 28. / The country districts report that during the holiday the hpat wave caused temperatures of over 100 degrees at a number of inland centres. This was followed by wind and thunderstorms. A hurricane in Bombala, on the south coast, was the worst experienced for years. It was a tropical cyclone of the " Willy Willy" type, and had its centre ' in the northern parts of Western Australia, where general rain has fallen. Good rain is also reported from Central In Victoria violent winds following the heavy rain of the past week have caused serious damage in the wheat areas. Some " farmers are already turning their stock into the crops, which are spoiled for harvesting. The tobacco etops are suffering from blue mould, and Irish blight has appeared z in many districts.
