HOLLYWOOD SENSATION
GANG OF JEWEL THIEVES. ALLEGED LEADER ARRESTED. (Received December 11, 12.15 a.m.) NEW YORK. Dec. 10. A man who called himself A 1 White became known at Hollywood last year as a wealthy importer who acted for the fun of it. To-day he is under • arrest as Roxen Sanders, and it is alleged that he was the chief of a gang of robbers. The police have recovered £50,000 worth of jowels, Oriental rugs and furniture which had been boldly taken from tho homes of wealthy people at Hollywood.
A chamois-leather bag containing £SOOO worth of loose diamonds was found strapped to one of Sanders' knees. The police assert that he stole £200,000 worth of goods and sold them to members of the cinema colony.
All the robberies were conducted in broad daylight by a gang of men who drove to the selected houses disguised as draymen.
