HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Barometric pressure remains fairly high over the Dominion, but is relatively low in the south, duo to the passage of a slight depression. Expect a continuance of chiefly fair to fine weather generally, although cloudy at times, with scattered coastal showers. Southerly winds, light to moderate. Seas moderate. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, with a tendency for an occasional slight shower, chiefly in the morning. Cooler temperatures. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30.05 in. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30,05 in. Temper:!lures in shade yesterday (to midnight}—. Maximum, GSclcg.; Minimum, 69dcg. GOVERNMENT REPORT.
The Government, meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A slight depression is crossing southern New Zealand, while a fairly intense anti-cyclone is advancing from Australia on to the western Tasman Sea. indications aro for moderate to strong northerly winds hacking to soutlierlies during the next 24 hours. Seas moderate generally, but, rising on the west coast ami about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Fresh northerly winds backing shortly to soutlierlies in the western Tasman, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather cloudy in districts with westerly aspects, with showers developing; elsewhere fair to fine, but some showers later with a southerly change. Temperatures mild ;it first, but becoming colder to-morrow.
