" Famous Rugby footballers agree that Nepia (New Zealand) is the hardest and most relentless tackier they have ever faced," writes Mr. Lan Stuart in his ■"Theory of Modern Rugby." He says: " Nepia is more than relentless. He is murderous. Ho is perfectly fair and clean, but has such weight and perfection of' build and determination that he rarely tackled without hurting his man." Mr. Stuart is of opinion that the extra back in the New Zealand formation is largely pasted as a defensive player, unless he lias the spirit of the game at heart. Ho is in an excellent position to obstract and cause ill-feeling. The great success of the New Zealand formation is due to the amount of combined practice by the players. .
