PIONEERS IN WIRELESS.
A correspondent wrote to the Times recently apropos of praise given to Signor Marconi, asking whether no credit was duo to that eminent naval officer and pioneer of practical wireless the late Ad-miral-of-the-Flcot Sir Henry Jackson. .Sir Henry was the first in England to put Hertziiin waves into practical use for wireless, stated tlvj Times correspondent. The jato admiral first, introduced wireless into the Navy in 1895; but one wonders whether the correspondent, has forgotten Ihe early pioneer work of Sir Oliver Lodge, who was demonstrating wireless transmission long before the late Sir Henry Jackson It is curious how prevalent is si ill the impression that wireloss was entirely invented by one man. If ever there was an invention which owes its development, to more than one inventor, wireless is that invention. Marconi, Lodge, Fleming, Branley, and dozens of others have all contributed to the science.
