TECHNICAL CLASSES.
"DOUBLE-BANKING" PLAN.
AVOIDING OVERCROWDING.
To make better use of the classroom and workshop accommodation at the Seddon Memorial Technical Collego, a system of " double-banking " evening classes will be introduced there next year. In making the announcement at the annual prize-giving last evening, the director, Mr. G. J. Park, stated that the evening classes, at which the attendance exceeded 850, were his greatest problem. In the present times it was difficult to ask tho Government for more accommodation, and moreover, an increased demand by young people for continuation education was expected. To meet the situation it had been decided to hold evening classes from 5-p.m.. to 7 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. next year, instead of for tho latter period only, as at present. This would give considerable relief. Moreover, many students would undoubtedly find it very convenient to go from their work almost immediately to their classes 1 finishing the day at 7 p.in. and avoiding a tram journey back from their homes to the college after the evening meal.
