The concluding matches in the Empire billiards tournament have been begun. If Davis beats Newman ho will win outright. If Lindrum or Newman wins there will be a triple tie, necessitating a playoff. MoConachy (receives 7000) is playing Lindrum in London. The scores are:— McConachy, 9164, including breaks of 306, 273, 374, 217, 531 and 341; Lindrum, 1081, including a break of 673. At snooker Lindrum has scored 167 and McConachy 69. Against Newman at Flymouth Davis (receives 7000) has made 8777, including breaks of 405, 355, 556 and 201 unfinished. Newman (receives 7000) has made 8434, including breaks of 216, 247, 372, 267. LEAGUE FOOTBALL MATCH. OLDHAM DEFEATS WIG AN. LONDON, Dec. S. In a League football match Oldham beat Wigan by 2 points to 0. CRICKET IN SOUTH AFRICA. RHODESIA MAKES 248. CAPETOWN. Dec. 8. In the cricket match against the Englishmen, who made 278, Rhodesia in their first innings made 248 (Ilayward 95. Symington 60. Peebles six for 57). The visitors have made four for one wicket in the second innings.
