FAIR TO CLOUDY. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied liy Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— There has been little change in tho distribution of barometric pressure over and around the Dominion, but tropical influences arc steadily increasing on tho northern Tasman Sea, combined with considerable) areas of cloudiness. It is evident that a tropical depression of great extent is slowly developing.. Meanwhile a continuance of chiefly fair to fine weather is indicated in most districts, although cloudy to overcast at times, with scattered showers in east const areas. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening in the. north. •Seas moderate, with an increasing tendency on (lie east coast. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, with an occasional light misty shower. Warm temperatures am! humid atmospheres. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.05 in. Midnight, Monday .. .. 30.00 in. Temperatures in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 72deg.; Minimum, GOcieg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last, evening as follows:—A slight anticyclone is passing to the north and ;i moderate depression is advancing over tho Tasman Sea. Indications aro for freshen ing northerly winds, but a change to southerlies advancing over tho southern half of the South Island during to-mor-row morning. Seas smooth to moderate. Winds later backing to southerlies in tho eastern Tasman Sea, with smooth to moderate seas. The weather will bo fair to fine at first, with mild temperatures, but showers developing in districts with a "westerly aspect, and later extending along the eastern districts of tho South Island.
