SOMETIMES OVERLOOKED.
neglected dustbin is a menace to family health, yet a few minutos' care will keep it clean and sanitary. A new dustbin should bo seasoned before it is/ used. This is done by sprinkling some shredded suet into tho bin, covering with some red hot cinders, and clpsing down tho lid. " The life of a dustbin will bo doubled if it is placed on four bricks, thus allowing the air to circulate freely around it; this also keeps tho outside dry. After the bin has been emptied, the best plan is to cover tho bottom with some ashes, and then placo an old newspaper, fully opened, on them. By adopting this/ method, all the refuse comes away, with tho papor, leaving a dry surface underneath. Every fow weeks a newspaper should be burnt in tho bin, before the fresh ashes aro placed at tho bottom. Z An excellent plan for keeping a dustbin sweet is to wrap all offensive smelling refuso, such ns cleanings from fish, jgtc., in old newspapers.
All vegetable refuso should bo burnt whenever possibld.
