ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
INDUSTRIAL AREA PLAN. Tho Director of Town Planning notified the Onehunga Borough Council last evening that he could not attend the conference of local bodies on December 9 regarding tho , Manukau industrial area scheme, and could not be present until some lime in the new year. Some members expressed dissatisfaction, contending that there was no business in the Dominion to which Mr. Mawson could attend with more promise of success than the movement for instituting an industrial area on the Manukau foreshore. Tho Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, said all they could do was to notify the other local bodies that the conference was postponed. It was decided to ask the Auckland City Council and the Newmarket Borough Council to join in the scheme. The Auckland Transport Board notified that in response to a deputation from the council and tho Onehunga-Manu-kau Chamber of Commerce an improvement had been made to tho tram service to Onehunga. It was decided to set aside a portion of the Recreation Reserve as a motorists' camp. Tho report of the foreman in regard to sealing Newsomo Street*at a cost of £l76'was adopted.
