A steady breeze from the south-west pavti the yachts a beat out to the mark and a flat run home, this providing a fine Bight for the many spectators on the shore. Owing to a sudden tak&-off in the tides hve motor-boats and two yachts were unable to get out from their moorings. The absence «f these craft detracted from the interest genially taken in the power-boat event. . Eleven yachts were sent away off their handicaps, the twp limit boats b'jing nipped. Tho Altnira, Sea Toiler andi Janet were despatched- at 2.48 p.m., followed by Rsdiiri 11., Daphne, Sea Gnome. Lois dim late). Sea Horse (45s late). Svlvia, Drone und Aoma. With-the exception of Sea Horse end Sylvia, all stood over to tho Onehuuga shore for some distance, • tho next board taking them over the Mangero shore out of the tide. It was on this board that Lois carried on to the Mangere shore while the others threw round and went between the marks; All the way down the Manj;ere shore a great tUßsle was taking place between the 14-footers, Sea Toiler, Janet.
