MOUNT EDEN DRAINAGE.
COMPLETING URGENT WORK. HEALTH BOARD TO CONSIDER. The question of approving of urgent work in connection with the Mount Eden Borough Council's scheme for the completion of drainage in the district will ho considered by the Board of Health in Wellington next Wednesday. A proposal to raise a loan of £95,000 for tho completion of tho work was rejected by the ratepayers at a poll held on October 15. In spito of the adverse result of the poll, tho council considered some aspects of tho work of sufficient urgency for it to approach the Health Department, which has made recommendations to the Board of Health. If it is satisfied that the work js necessary, the hoard will issue a writ to the local authority, which may proceed without consulting the ratepayers. The Mayor, Mr. E. 11. Potter, stated recently that it was anticipated that certain works would be authorised by the board, and it was then for the council to decide whether the balance would bo placed before tho ratepayers again for then approval.
