HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED. The following weather foreenst for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Another depression is moving on to the Dominion from the Tasman Sea. Expect cloudy and unsettled weather, with rain developing in most districts, and there are indications for a general rainfall to follow. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong prevailing and freshening, seas becoming rough and increasing. Local outlook: Cloudy and unsettled, with rain following. Warmer temperatures. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A rather vigorous westerly depression is advancing on to the Dominion and covers the Tasman Sea. Indications are for moderate to strong north to north-west winds, reaching galo force in places, backing later to west, and, in places, south-west. Seas rather rough to rough on West Coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Elsewhere moderate. Moderate to strong north-westerly winds in eastern Tasman Sea, backing later to west and southwest, with rough seas. Weather unsettled and showery in western districts and extending to eastern districts as far north as Timaru. Mainly fair elsewhere. Temperatures mild. RAINFALL RECORD.
