RUGBY LEAGUE GAME.
IMPORTANT PROPOSALS. SENIOR GRADE NOMINATIONS. TWO OLDEST CLUBS AFFECTED. The special committee Appointed by llie Auckland Ilugby League to consider tho fufuro control of the game in Auckland made .1 filial decision last evening as to which of Hio present eight clubs should remain in next season's competition. The committee had previously decided to limit, the number of teams in the senior grade to si v. It was decided to recommend to the Auckland Rugby League that tho following learns should in future comprise the senior grade: —Ponsonby, Marist, Devonport, Metropolitan (to include City and Newton), Western Suburbs or Richmond and Eastern Suburbs (to include Ellerslie). Tho decision will affect four senior teams—City, Newton, Richmond and Ellerslie. The two first-named clubs aro the oldest, in tho code in Auckland. City was the first club formed in 1909, and tho Newton Club was formed tho following season. Richmond has had senior grade status since 1926, and Ellerslie sinco 1927.
Tho committee took a considerable time lo reach an agreement and it will now bo left to the management committee of the Auckland Rugby League to confirm or reject the most important recommendation made since the special committee met some weeks ago.
