SCENES OF JAVA.

A graphic account of an extensive tour through Java, illustrated by cinematograph films, was givon by Captain Humphries Davis at a meeting of the Overseas League last evening. Tho presiDr. C. E. Maguire introduced tho speaker. Delightful viows of tho scenerj in and around Java were Bhown by the speaker, who also described the interest ing customs of tho people who live there. Of special interest wero films showing scenes taken on a drive across Sumatra, twelve hundred miles of rugged mountainous country. Somo very beautiful glimpses of the scenery of Bali, a small island off the eastern end of Java, were also included in tho films. The island, Captain Davis said, was full of romance and colour and tho inhabitants were entirely unspoiled. At the conclusion of his address the speaker was cordially thanked by the president.
