WATERFRONT ROAD.

AN AVENUE OF LIGHTS. UPKEEP TO BE £B6O A YEAR. The cost of lighting the waterfront road is estimated to be £B6O a year, according to a report presented to the City Council last evening by the city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler. By placing 250 candle-power lamps at intervals of 300 ft. along the embankment a total of 61 lamps would be required, 24 between Cailipbell s Point and Hob,ion Point, seven at Gower's Point and 30 on the uncompleted middle section between Hobson Point and Mission Bay. The council authorised the lighting of the first section, from Campbell's Point to nobson Point, and also the portion of road round Gower's Point.
