f Itv 'I ki.kc: It A PH. —OWN CnrtIIKSrONKKNT.] Tls AUDHA. Thursday.

Tlio ipiestion of scaling tlio NgaleaWaliaroa Koad, which traverses I lie Piako County from north to south, was beforo (lie Piako County Council at its last incet"'tlic engineer, Mr. B. 11. Horner, sai.J that £BOOO was available for the annua maintenance of 30 miles of roads, and he considered it. a wise policy to tar-seal a portion of the main road every year m preference to spending all the money on maintenance. There was not the .slightest dcuhr, [aid Mr. Horner, that all roads would' have to he tar-sealed. The NgaleaWaharoa Itoad had » nine-inch crust hut it was wearing away at the rate of one inch *a year, ;uid if the sealing was delayed the road would liavo Jo ho roconstiucted in a few years. There was no chance of a subsidy for this road, and doing the work out of revenue was tlio only%olution. The position will bo reviewed at a future meet ing of I lie council. The sum of £IOO was voted toward 11io cost of metalling the Mnukoro Landing [load, which forms tho boundary between the Ifauraki Plains and I iako Counties.
