JUBILEE NUMBER.
NEW ZEALAND OBSERVER. FIFTY YEARS OF PROGRESS. Fifty years of prosperous existence and social service is the proud claim of the New Zealand Observer, which yesterday published its jubilee number, a bright and interesting issue, in which, besides the usual reading matter, the achievements of 50 years are recapitulated. Prominent among its pages is one on which is reproduced the front page of the original issue of September 18, 1880. A breezily-written article by "Mo" describes his career as cartoonist on this paper, and contains many interesting and amusing anecdotes. In addition there are several excellent reproductions of the cartoons which made "Bio" famous. Another article recounts the history of the paper and its staff changes, with illustrations from early files. The whole production is very finely presented, and makes an acceptablo record of the career of this well-known journal.
