MANSLAUGHTER ALLEGED.
INDIAN HERBALIST'S ARREST.
CASE AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
ACCUSED REMANDED ON BAIL.

An Indian herbalist, Abraham Wally Ma!.iomed Salarnan, was charged in the Police Court to-day with the manslaughter of a child and was remanded to appear to-morrow.
Tho dealli of the child concerned, Lyall Gordon Christie, aged years, occurred on August 2. Tho child's parents resided at Fordell.
Tho charge against Salamnn is that between July 30 and August 2, 1930, at New Plymouth, being an unlicensed medical practitioner, he did, in attending 10 and prescribing for Lyall Gordon Christie, fail (0 use competent skill and by improper medical treatment he did unlaw fully accelerate the death of Christie, thereby committing the crime of manslaughter. Salaman's arrest followed a police raid on Jiis premises. Salaman appeared before Mr. J. S. Connett, J.P., this morning, and on Ul9 application of the police .was remanded to appear before a magistrate to-morrow morning, when a date will be fixed for the hearing of tho charge. Accused applied for bail and the inspector said lie would not oppose the application if bail was substantial.
The Court fixed tho amount in accused's own recognisance of £SOO and two sureties of £250 each.
