ELLERSLIE GALLOPS.

1 FINALS FOR PAKURANGA.

SOME INTERESTING TRIALS.

GOLD MONEY SPRINTS BEST.

Weather conditions were, good for training operations nt EUerslio yesterday, but the work was not as interesting as expected wilh tho Pilkuranga Hunt meeting so close at hand.- All tho fas< work of interest was performed on the outside of the course proper, where the flags wore out about 40ft., and tho going was soft. No fast times were recorded, and tho , best four furlongs was registered by Gold Money, who ran 52 3-ss. Other horses to 'work well wero 1 Hannibal, High Pitch, Ronnie, Awamutu, Volimond and Honiton. Details of tho gallops are:— , COURSE PROPER. Red Lion was first out and reeled off four furlungs in 55 2-ss. Lady Court and Stimulant also worked soundly, running six furlongs in 1.2G 1-5. Foot Rule (Conquest) easily bent Cat-i----mes (light boy) over five furlongs in 1.9 2-5. Foot Rule shows plenty of speed when sprinted and should be very useful among the hnck sprinters this season. Gold Money (light boy) covered four furlongs in 52 3-ss—the best of the morning. She went fast early and was loafing toward the finish. Catoma (Ludlow) was responsible for seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5. Ho was kicked along in the straight, but was still doing his work well at tho finish.

Eager Rose strode along nicely for seven furlongs in 1.42. She is improving with every gallop and should not be long in striking form again. Patutahi (R. Mcßae) was clear of Llwiore (Cammick), with Kawainga beaten off, nt the conclusion of four furlongs in 55 2-ss. Patutahi went better than he did on Tuesday, but he was being kicked up at the finish. . . .

Day Form covered four furlongs in 66 l-ss, while Operatio and Milvane were doing their best to run the same distance' in 53 l-ss. "Milvano showed plenty of pace early, but Oporatio, who is much better seasoned, was able to overtake him at the finish.

Volimond (McTavish) went nicely while leading Hciniton (Keesing) over five furlongs in 1.8. Volimond was carrying a good weight and ■ her gallop would gain • her many friends. Honiton also moved with plenty of freedon. and was not knocked about.' ''

Great Emblem (Simpson) and Frothblower: (Parsons) ' were about three lengths clear of Gay Coclcade (L. Dulieu), with Principal well back, at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.24 4-5. It was a very satisfactory gallop for hackß, Great Emblem and Frothblower both going solidly. Gay Cockade's effort was also satisfactory, as he had the worst of the weights and was on the outside.

Wild Country was better than Thunderstorm over six furlongs in 1.25 3-5, Prince Amans, who began with them, being beaten right off. Without doing anything Bpecial, Wild Country has been working solidly and is better now than ever she has been. However, her past form has been very mediocre. Tetrarchate ran home from the threefurlong post in 41 2-ss. He has not attempted mifch fast work lately, but is rounding into shape nicely, and should como on quickly with some galloping. Hannibal (Fergus), .was always going better thai! Bennio (Cammick) while running six furlongs in 1.24, which was tho best gallop over the distances; Hannibal hit out with freedom and Bennie also pleased by the way he was staying on at the finish. High Pitch (L. Man°on) placed seven furlongs behind in 1.33 2-5. High Pitch infused plenty of vim into his work and appears Jo be in better form than for Bome time pa3t. General Lti and Lost Comet took nearly | 1.15 to run five furlong 3. They were both very tired at the finish. Fall o' the Year pleased better than Marble Mount and Catulus over a mile in 1.57 1-5. Scaramouche, who began with them, was unable to eo the pace and finished well in the rear. Fall o' the Year finished strongly, and, as she has done well since reaching Ellerslie. looks like being very dangerous in the Ladies' Bracelet on Saturday. when she will have to meet a poor lot. Quincoma was going stronger than Odin at the end of a round in 2.1S 1-5, although there was very little between them. Desert Glow and Flying- Prince ran five furlongs without being bustled in 1.10 2-5, Freyja running a furlong less in 5G 2-ss. Awamutu showed some dash while covering four furlongs in 52 4-ss, but Biddy Comet only went steadily, and Escalus failed to display any speed ,in running the same distance in 69s Sub-editor was slightly better than United.' with Mon Star lengths behind at tho end of three furlongs in 41s; THE JUMPERS. Master Arch (Leach), Foxhound (Gilmer) and Lovely Boy (J. McPae) were sent once round tho steeplechase fences. Master Arch gave a sound display and Foxhound also went well until reaching tho last fence, the stonewall, where ho fell. He was remounted and afterwards jumped it safely. Lovely Boy, who was a long way behind and very tired, baulked at the same fence, but got over at the second attempt. His display was far from promising. Marita. (Burgess) jumped the fences on the flat cleverly and' afterwards worked soundly on the grass. Rodger (Olive) jumped the stonewall cleanly and also performed sound work on the grass.

PADDON SCRATCHED. Paddon was scratched for the Jellicoe Handicap at the Pakuranga Hunt races tomorrow at 9 a.m. yesterday. NOTES FROM TRENTHAM. QUIET TIME ON TRACKS. [I3Y TELKGKAI'H. —OWN COIUIESI'ON DENT. J WELLINGTON, Thursday Trentham tracks are experiencing a fairly quiet time at present. The fine weather has made a great difference to the going and this morning fast work was resumed on the tan- and dirt track for the first time for. several weeks. Thero was nothing of outstanding interest in the work Lady Pain shaped nicely over five furlongs with Lady Rene, the last half-Ttr.lO taking 53b. Lafly t'nm has worked well and seems fairly forv/ard.
