PREMISES AT DUNEDIN. [BY TELEOrtATH. —OWN COTIUEfI'ONDENT. ] DUNEDIN, Thursday. The well-known Royal Arcade is onco moro prominently before the public and preparatory to proceeding with (lie demolition of t lie arcade to clear the site for new buildings, the Arcade Company has given fo its tenants one month's notice to f|iiit. Some time-ago there was litigation between the City Council and the Arcade Company on the question whether the aicade constituted a public street 07 not. The Court held in favour of the company that the arcade was * private property. It is the intention of the company as soon as the shops are vacated to fence off each end of the arcade and close the old thoroughfare. [t is stated that the company had been approached with a view to the erection of a modern hotel on the site, and it is understood that an alternative scheme is also under consideration.
