VOYAGE OF THE PERSIA.
ANOTHER PASSENGER BY SHIP ______ The publication yesterday of Mr. Frederick Cossey's recollections of a stormy voyage from London to Auckland 70 years ago in the ship Persia has revealed that another passenger by the vessfel is living in Auckland to-day. This is 'Mrs. William Parker, of 12, Inverness Avenue, Epsom. Mrs. Parker has little recollection of the voyage, which she made as a child of four with her parents, the lata Mr. and Mrs. John Close, whose fourth daughter and tenth child she was. The family came from Leeds and after reaching Auckland parents and children shared the hardships of pioneering in the Mangawai district and later at the Rawback and Papatoetoe. Mrs. Parker is now the only surviving member of the family. She married the late Mr. William Parker, formerly of Edinburgh, who was in business for many years as a chemist aiic? optician in Auckland and Wellington.
