Tho Marlborough Rugby Union's new ground, known as Lansdowne Bark, was tho sceno to-day of tho final match of tho British Rugby lour, the visitors compiling against tho combined Marlborough, Nelson and Golden Bay representatives tho record score of their tour by winning by 41 points to 3. Tho game was witnessed by about 5000 spectators and was played in good weather. Heavy rain was experienced during the past three days and tho uncertainty of tho weather affected tho attendance.

Until well on into tho second spell tho combined team made a good game, but in the last 25 minutes tho visitors did practically as they liked. They treated the crowd to a sparkling exhibition of the code, during which the ball travelled rapidly from one sido of the field to tho other.

For tho visitors tries wero scored by Wilkinson, Black. Jones-Davies (2), Bowcott, Beamish and Knowles. Black and Barker each converted two, while Bonner converted one. Barker also kicked two penally goals and Jones-Davies a goal from 'tho field. Tho combined team's solitary scoro was a rather lucky try by Alexander. At the conclusion of the game tho band played Auld Lang Syne and the opposin" players linked hands in the centre of°the field while tho crowd joined lustily in tho song. Martindalc, who has been an inmate of a private hospital in Wellington for some days, is progressing favourably. Tho members of the team which played at Blenheim aro returning to Wellington. Tho team will sail for Sydney on Friday.

Before ho retires from active Rugby football, C. G. Porter, captain of the Now Zealand and Wellington teams, will see the present season out. He said this to-day iii answer to an inquiry concerning his plans. Some Wellington supporters, when Porter announced at the dinner to the British team on Saturday that he was giving tho game up, thought that the All Black captain did not intend to take part in any more matches. Porter says that he was only referring to international games. He said that he would continue to play for his club and province until tho end of the soason.
