POLICE COURT NEWS.
CHARGE OF FORGERY. A LABOURER REMANDED. Cliaiged with forging a Public Works Department money order for £3 Bs, with intent that it should be acted upon as genuine, William Gerald Cain, labourer, aged 40, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday. On the application of Detective-Sergeant Kelly, who said other charges were, [lending, accused was remanded until Thursday.
Following investigations by special police five women appeared on charges of being idle and disorderly with insufficient means of support. Sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed on Kathleen My ra Henderson, aged 45, while Jessie Chillis, aged 51, and Edith Hill, aged 52, weie each sent, to gaol for two months. Additional charges of consorting with reputed thieves and undesirables were preferred against Itose Hunter, aged 36, and Lena Dye, aged 52. Hunter, who had a list of 30 previous convictions, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, while Dye was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence it called upon and to take out a prohibition order.
