INQUIRY BY COMMITTEE. SCOPE OF INVESTIGATIONS. [by telegraph.—special reporter.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Details of an investigation into tha marketing of "rait and vegetables which is to be made by tho Parliamentary In« dnstries and Commerce Committee, 'weri supplied to the House of Representative# to-day by tho Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. do la Perrelle. The Minister said the order of refer* ence would include an investigation into* the marketing methods used in the sals of fresh fruit'and vegetables, including New Zealand grown and those imported from the Islands and other overseas coursi tries through the various channels of diss tribution from grower to consumer. .Ths methods of packing, grading, standard!* sation and transport to markets woul<s be inquired into generally. The object of the investigation was fcs inquire whether present marketing methods with respect to the sale of fresh! fruit and vegetables were in the best interesfs of the grower and consumer, and if not, what recommendations could bd submitted by the committee, the general adoption of which wctild result in eco*" nomical distribution assuring satisfactory returns io the grower and reasonably prices to the consumer. " Could the Minister state what ar# ihe reasons leading to his"comprehensive document that has been sprung upon us asked the Leader of the the Rt. Hon. J., G. Coates. The Prime Minister, tho Hon. G. W« Forbes, replied that the committee had been appointed in accordance with a pro* mise given to a deputation of those people interested in the sale of fruit and vegei« ablcs
