If Mr. Forbes could not see his way to do that, be. might be able to give Ihe bill such facilities as to enable it to he carried. It was felt fhero was a majority in favour of the proposals in both Houses. The Prime Minister said he had always voted for the bill, as ho had felt it was only fair that racing clubs should be permitted to receive investments by telegraph. " It is not a question of making Ihe bill a Government measure, but it is a question of getting it throng!) tho House. t will see that if gets as good a run as it is possible to give, as 1 think the measure, is a reasonable one. It is not, a bill that will go iri tho direction of increasing (rambling, but it will allow for betting l;oing through legitimate and recognised channels. I wish tho bill every success when it comes before the House," said Mr. Forbes.
