Investment business gained some impetus on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday but, the general tone of tho market underwent little* change. Government investments were again in demand at firm rates, with one addition to sellers, who, in tho case of 1936 5A per cent, bonds, reduced their limits by 5s to £99 d>. Buyers offered £99 2s 6d, a rise of 2s 6d during the day. In local body debentures Auckland Harbour Boards 1941 6 per cent, were done 30s lower at £lO2.

In insurance offers for New Zealands receded to 445, with sellers still asking 4Gs 6d. The advance in West ports was the most notable movement in coals. A sale at 33s represented an advance of Is 9d on the last business, which took place early in June. More were inquired for at 325. The preference issue of Hikurnngis had Halo Gd lower at 5s 9d. In gas a lato salo of Aucklands which took place cum div. on Monday was recordud at 25s- Yesterday the shares were quoted ox div. at that ligure. Buyers offered 24s at the early call but later withdrew from the market. In shipping New Zealand preference were done at £9 ss.

A riso of 6il was registered in offers for British Tobaccos to 375, the shares being available at 37s 6d. Buyers of Colonial Sugars advanced their limits 10s to £36 15s without responsu from sellers. A fall of 2s 6d was registered by KenipthorneProssers, which were released at 62s 6d. In mining Wo i Ins were taken at the current price, 14s. Mount Lyells were quoted 6d easier a( 23s 9<l, buyers offering 23s 6d. Rights to tho new issuo wero availublo 3d easier at 2s. buyers lowering their price 2d to Is 9d.
