REPRESENTATION OF INMATES
A petition addressed to Parliament Inst year by Mr. Morton Aldis, formerly secretary to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, asking that changes be made in the constitution of the institute, has been considered by the Cabinet, according to information received by Mr. Aldis from the Minister of Education, the Hon 11. At more.
The Minister states that in making future appointments of trustees the Governor-General will be recommended to consider ono nominated by thn inmates. Mr. Aldis has replied expressing appreciation of this concession, but urging that it does not go far enough; in the first place, because there, is no guarantee that future Cabinets will abide bv any decision not. embodied in an Act o'f Parliament ; secondly, because one representative for the blind out of nine trustees is not, enough ; and, thirdly, beentiM l . apart from the question of the representation of the blind, the constitution of the whole board calls for radical reform.
