FORMATION OF NEW GUILD

MOVE HELD UNNECESSARY

[Tiy TELEGIUrU.—rRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Friday.

According to a statement issued to tho press, a motion was carried at a meeting of the Wellington section of tho Post and Telegraph Association to the effect that a controlling officers' guild was unnecessary. Tt was stated that about 150 members were present at the meeting, and that these included 50 controlling officers. An amendment that the forming of a guild was a matter for determination bv those eligible for membership was defeated.

At a fully attended meeting of controlling oflicers at Wangauui this evening the following resolution was carried:— "That this meeting of controlling oflicers strongly disapproves of an attempt being made to form a I'ost and Telegraph Oflicers' Guild for controlling officers, and is of opinion that the present association, being given the. opportunity, can best safeguard and advance the interests of the controlling officers and the service as a whole."
