NOTES ON RECENT FORM.

GOLD MINT AS HURDLER

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COMIESrOXPEST.] CIIRISTCIIURCH, Friday.

Gold Mint is duo to have his first hurdle l-aoe (it Washdyke to-morrow. He has taken tune to show much promise in his schooling, but his recent tasks suggest that he will come riirht with a few eflorta in company. liladon will not carry much money in the P.ireora Ininteis' Steeplcchn&o to-morrow. He has clone nothing ou the tracks to point to him completing: the journey.

Royal Limond wis unlucky at Waimate, ond with better treatment at the start of the Levels Hack Handicap to-morrow he should record an improvement.

Dry Area, a stable-mate of Town Major, showed a turn of speed in a six-furlong race at WaiVnate, and relinquished a substantial lead only at fhe straight entrance. He is partial to soft going, and may upset calculations in to-morrow's engagement at Wnshdyke.

Rapina has executed sorno smart work lately at Iliccarton, and is evidently improving with ngo. A soft track to-morrow, however, zray not bo to her liking. Star Stranger 11. is duo to appear again in public to-morrow after a lengthy absenco from tho track as a result of a eovere injury received while schooling at Riccarton last year Sho u now the property of W. Holmes, who had her in his big team at Vancouver, bnl. was unable to race her there owing to her narao not appearing in tho New Zealand Stud Book. Kulrango did not go far in his first steeplechase attempt at Ashburton, being run off by a riderless contestant. 110 is a proficient, but extravagant, jumper, and will bo able to master the Washdyko country to-morrow, but will lack tho necessary experience to trouble hi 3 more seasoned opponents.

AWAPUNI-TRAINED HORSES.

THIS SEASON'S SUCCESSES

Horses trained at Awapuni have won £22,910 in stake-money this season, and tlioy will have an opportunity of adding to tho total at tho Manawatu meeting next week. However, as only one of the two days comes within tho present season, it is very doubtful whether they will bo ablo to make up the deficiency of £1220 compared with last season's figures, £24,130. No fewer than 70 horses have contributed toward this season's aggregate. Aurora Borealis heads tho list with £3785, although lately, as her owner bus moved to his farm at Himitangi, sho has been trained at Foxton. Gesture, when trained at Awapuni, won £1155, Piuthair £lllO, Merry Damon £l3lO, Pahu £925, Princess Betty £BBS, Democratic £853, Llyn Dim £725, and Red Fuchsia £7OO. New, with eight, who won £'2550, and J. P. Coyle, with six, who won £lBlO.
