ROTORUA NOTES.
COMPLIMENTARY BALL.
A most successful dance, organised by the Rotorua Athletic Club in honour cf the visiting British Rugby team, took place in the Majestic Cabaret' on Wednesday evening. The hall looked most attractive, decorated with coloured streamers. and the supper loom was bedecked with flags and foliage The success of the evening was due to Mr. F. White, secretary of the Athletic Club, and a committee comprising Messrs. C. Pepper, E. Sherman and P. Butler. Excellent music was supplied by Mr. Shalfoon and his Melody Boys. The following members of tiie British Rugby team were present:—Messrs. Sobey, Knowles, Dunne, Jennings, Kendrew, Wilkinson, Jones-Da vies, Dr. Murray, accompanied by Mr. Kingi Tawhiwi, New Zealand Rugby Union representative, Major Dansey, Mr. Wilkie, president of the Bay of Plenty Union, and Mr. Jully, president of the Otago Rugby Union.

Mrs. W. Hill was hostess at a delightful bridge evening given at her home, Pukeroa, on Thursday evening. The hostess received her guests wearing a frock of black lace. The bridge room was arranged with vases of snowdrops, daphne and berries. In the supper room ■were large bowls of wattle and vases of violets arid snowdrops. Progressive bridge was played, the prize winners being as follows: —Mrs. Bunvard, first prize; consolation prize, Mrs. La Tiobe Hill; hidden number, Miss Roberts
