STORMS AT SEA.

DELAYS TO SHIPPING. SEVERE GALES ENCOUNTERED. Stormy weather experienced during the last 10 days of her voyage from Liver pool delayed tho arrival of the Federal Line steamer Pakipaki at Auckland two days. Tho vessel arrived early yesterday afternoon. Tho weather was moderate when the Pakipr.ki cleared Panama on June 26, but about 10 days ago she encountered a southerly gale and heavy seas, which continued until she reached the sheltor of the New Zealand coast. The vessel's decks were flooded continually, and so strong was the gale on Wednesday that she was forced to run before it for about 100 miles off her course. It was not found necessary to heave-to, and the vessel suffered no damage.

Other vessels from overseas have also been delayed by tho gale. The Pakipnki reported that the Bank Lino motorship Clydebank, which is due at Auckland at daybreak to-day from Galveston, Texas, covered only 150 miles on Wednesday. The steamer City of Khartoum, which was due last evening from New York, reported by wireless that she would not reach Auckland until daybreak today. The Union Company's steamer Kiwitea, from Melbourne, has also been delayed, and she will reach Auckland early this morning.
