HENDERSON AFFAIRS.
RATES FOR THE YEAP INCREASE IN TOTAL. The Henderson Town Board met la't evening, the chairman, Mr. W. T. KLeighton, presiding. The rates for the current year were fixed at 9d in the pound on the unimproved value of the land, this being an increase of one halfpenny on those of the previous year. It was also decided to enforce the 10 per cent, penalty on all rates unpaid after August 27. Public work to the value of approximately £IBBO is to be carried out during the year. The foreman's report indicated that tha necessary work had been done on the Valley, View and South Roads, the footpaths cleaned in Henry Street. Georpe Street and McLeod's Road, scoria spread on the sanitary site roadway and the sealing of the joints on the main highway almost completed.• He estimated the cost "5 scarifying, grading and dressing with coarse chip all metal road surfaces at £3OO. The noxious weeds inspector reported that tenders had been called for clearm,? noxious weeds from the board's property in Millbrook Road, Henderson Falls and on the sanitary grounds, and tins work was now fully completed.
