MINING NEWS.
WAIHI COMPANY'S REPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIHI, Thursday. The Waihi Goldmming Company, Limited, reports that the following information has been cabled to London: — No. 9 Level.—Martha lode: Driving east the next 24ft. assays 40s per ton over the width of sft. No. 10 Level.—State reef: Front 120 ft. to 130 ft. the reef is split up. Driving is being continued. No. 11 Level.—Empire lode, lii a crosscut about 300 ft. west of the Bath crosscut we have driven to the east 15ft. The assay value is 32s 6d per ton. Wo have also driven to the west 15ft. and the assay value there is 29s 9d per ton. The lode is mixed with country in both faces.
MANAGERS' REPORTS. Talisman Dubbo Gold Minos. Limited:— Operations at this mine .vere commenced by the company at the. end of January from a short drive which had been put in by tributera many years ago on a reef culled the Dubbo. on the southern slopes of the Karangahuke Mountain. This continued for about 00ft., when it made into a solid ?eet carrying gold and slimy su phides. and it lias been carried at times wider than the dVive for 02fl. The last report of the supervisor states:-The drive on the Dubbo Reef lias been advanced lift, for the week. It has opened out again to sft. wide and 3ft. of the footwall portion is very high-grade ore More gold is showing in the stono than has been seen since operations commenced Two feet of the hangingwall portion is carrying a high percentage of manganese.
