Vincent last evening:— Conditions are still somewhat disturbed on (he south-west Tasinan Sea, but an area of high barometric pressure is moving on to the North Island. Expect unsettled and showery, weather in western and southern districts, but mainly fine in east coast areas. Southerly to southwesterly winds, moderate to strong. Rough seas southward from Capo Egmont; mainly moderate elsewhere. Local outlook: Showery, although fair intervals will intervene. Cold temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady . . 23.85 in. Midnight, Wednesday . . 29.95 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 58deg.; minimum, 47deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A rather deep low-pressure wave has been crossing the Dominion to-day, but a fairly intenso anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Indications are for winds becoming southerly generally, and strong to gale force. Seas becoming rough generally. Strong southerly winds and rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather cold, changeable and squally generally, with showers in most districts and heavy on parts of the east coast, with hail in places. Snow 011 the high country and also on parts of tho low levels of the South Island. RAINFALL RECORD. Fall in City (Herald gauge): 24 hours ended midnight, July 21 . . ,13ln.
