A icsident. of Dargaville, .Mr. Tanner, found a piece of ambergris weighing llilb. at the West. Coast Beach at the week-end. Its value in normal times on the London market, it is stated, would be about £SOO, but at present owing to over supply prices arc down. Mr. Tanner is reported to have accepted £75 lor a third share. The ambergris has been deposited in a bank for safe custody until the market is more favourable.
Thd spot where the ambergris was picked up is not far from the place where the Subritsky brothers found an unusually large piece about 13 months ago and which realised several thousand pounds.
