ALLEGATION OF THEFT.
REMAND OF THE ACCUSED.
A charge of stealing a black fox fur, five pairs of ladies' silk stocking 3, a pair of slippers, a quantity of soap and scont, and 5s in money, the property of L. E. Wiseman, at Taknpuna, on March 22, was preferred in the Polico Court yesterday against Georgo Albert Hedlcy Nixon, aged 33, described as an ex-jockey. The value of the goods mentioned in the charge was £ll 6s 6d. Chief-Detective Hammond asked for a remand until next Thursday, which was granted. As a result of a disturbance in Quay Street early on Tuesday evening, four men, Frederick William Collins, aged 30, seaman; Sydney Dawson, aged 26, motordriver; Thomas Allen McClymont, aged 38, carrier; and Frederick Mervyn Julius Blank, aged 23, porter, were charged with fighting. Collins and Dawson admitted the offence, the other two pleading not puiltv. Police evidence was that Collins and Dawson had been responsible for starting the fight and the other uccuscc bad become involved. , A fine of £3, in. default seven days imprisonment, imposed on Collins by * . * J e f au jt S.M., who fined Dawson £2, in detaul five days' imprisonment. Jhe cnarges against the other men were dismissed.
