At a mooting of the Opotiki Borough

Council last evening, Dr. Budd, a member of the council, drew the attention of the council to the fact that great care was necessary in the use of sodium chlorate as a weed-killer. If some of the chemical was spilt on clothes and then dried the garments would remain in a highly-in-flarnmablo condition. Boots were also stated to be a source tof danger, and if saturated with the chemical could be ignited by walking. In using the chemical it was very desirable that gumboots be used as a safeguard.

Dr. Budd intimated his intention of Demonstrating the dangerous nature of the 'chemical at the next meeting of the countil.
